hello I was wondering when I go to record the kick I dont' know how much lows to add
sometimes its hits too hard and some times you can't even tell its there so I don't really know what to do any help would be great.

Man, that's like asking "When I get in my car, I don't always know how fast to go or which way to turn....help me!".

Seriously, it's impossible to answer your question.

If you're looking for balance, you might be able to adjust the sound when editing in the mix window. Also, an equalizer might be helpful.

i wouldn't add the lows when recording the kick. i'd record the kick au natural, and add any necessary eq'ing afterward.

if you can't always hear the kick, tell whoever is drumming to be more consistent. dynamics are great but the level should be consistent enough to hear most of the time.

well thanks man I wasn't asking for Sarcasm but thanks amped and Nicole_Rose
for a respectful answer

Well really he's asking you to provide more information, such as what kind of set-up your working with, a computer? which program? which mic did you use? did you use a mic? where did you place it? ... the list goes on, but as far as EQ goes a good place to start is by boosting 60-100 cut 300-700 boost 1k-3k, just mess around, you'll get it.

Try some compression also for leveling it out. By the way I'm talking about doing all this stuff AFTER it has been recorded. GOOD LUCK!

That's exactly the answer I was looking for thank you man

I wasn't being sarcastic. What I said was and is true. The other answers you got require you to provide more, or at least SOME information. The question you asked is impossible to answer.

We finally found it.

The least helpful person on this forum!!

Congrats

Oh shut up and take the pole out of your ass, Poindexter. Did I not put enough smileys next to my post, or should I type slower so you can actually "get" something for once in your life???

I can guarantee you I've helped more people on this forum than you. The difference is, I can only help when someone asks a question that is answerable. Which reminds me...Where's your oh-so-helpful contribution to this thread, pea-brain?????

The question was rather vague, my reply was just a general reply, somewhere to begin. More information would definately be needed to get to the exact root of his problem. Theres really no need for hostility, Im sure Rami replied with the best intentions, not to belittle you in any way.

Rami certainly doesn't need me to defend him, but you newbs need to shut up for a second. The dude is pretty highly regarded round here for his drum chops and his clean drum tracks. You fools will learn a ton from him if you just shut the fuck up for a second and read.

I think Rami needed one more smiley...that would really help...:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

"You must spread more reputation, etc.......".

Hehe....Thanx guys. No problems here. We're all just having fun. Yippeeee!!!

Haha..."Poindexter". I kill me. :D

Look I am sorry if I started something no I didn't provide enough information it did seem like the answer I got was sarcastic but I may have misunderstood.

Jammer, you have nothing to apologise for. You asked a question. I answered it in the best way I could...given the information you provided...which was to tell you that it's impossible to answer your question. The closest I came to sarcasm was about 3 posts in, and that was humor rather than sarcasm....hence, the 28 smileys. It's all good, bro.
