What is a good keyboard for a tight budget (less than $250). Something I can get realistic piano and organ sounds from? Does not have to be new, I've heard good things about some of the old Yamahas.

Sorry to answer a question with a question, but, what will you be using it for? The Yamahas you're prabably thinking of are from the PSR line, and I think the first one with mid connections is the PSR520......maybe.

Actually one of the main uses I have for one would be to add bass lines to my music, and maybe some piano and organ. I hate to say it but my first concern is my lack of nickels and dimes, the sound must take a backseat for now.

As a simple midi controller, there are lots of options from M-Audio, Fatar, Casio, Yamaha. I would look pretty hard at the Axiom 25 from M-Audio, and if you can wait a couple months, check out the new LB37 I think it's called on the LINE 6 website.
As for sounds, you'll almost always find software sounds/samples superior to anything you can get out of a $200 board.

This one has some great sounds and is altogether a pretty cheap and nice keyboard. It's be my only suggestion for that budget and if you can get over the size (you probably won't need all those keys for a bass which only has 2 octaves) it would be great.
