Hiya I have a E-MU XBoard25 Keyboard and I'm experience latency!

I have Windows 7, and am using Cakewalk Sonar Producer 8.5.
I have the Audio Latency Buffer size set at fastest in cakewalk options (10msec). Any lower than this and programmed drums go out of sync and miss beats on play back. I also have the 'buffers in playback queue' setting to maximum (16) as well. Any lower and audio goes out.
However despite being on its max setting the keyboard has a slight but very significant delay.

I have updated the keyboard with latest drivers/firmwire from the site.

My computer spec:
Windows 7, 64-bit, INtel Core 2 Quad CPU 2.50 Ghz, 4 Gig of RAM.

Thanks guys any help is appreciated :)

Sorry I can't help you with your problem but maybe you can help me with mine??? I run Sonar 7 Producer and just purchased a new XBoard 25. Although it shows up in my options, I can not make it trigger my soft synth drums. That's all I wanna use it for .. triggering individual drum kit pieces. I'm using the USB cable and I can't even get the MIDI input icon to light up in the bottom left corner of the Sonar screen. The latest drivers are installed. Any ideas??

Does the EMU show up in the MIDI devices dialog box? Options > MIDI Devices.

Connected via USB you might have to use the Options > Controller/Surfaces box to set it up to send MIDI into Sonar.

The EMU site doesn't show driver support for Win7.

What interface or soundcard are you using? The latency is likely coming from your interface. If you are using MME or WDM drivers try switching over to an ASIO driver for fastest response.

I had bad issues trying to use multiple USB MIDI devices in XPPro with SP8.5 that weren't resolved until I ditched the USB cable on my AkaiMPK-49 and went with a radio Shack AC adapter and routed the MIDI through the other MIDI interface with a MIDI DIN cable. Also, using MIDI-OX is highly recommended for routing MIDI devices and ports, and MIDI-OX also allows different setups and virtual MIDI ports when used with MIDI-Yoke made by the same guys.

If you are using the internal soundcard from the motherboard you likely will need to upgrade to a better interface. Internal soundcards are really just for Wavetable sounds for gaming and can't process samples as fast as a dedicated interface with ASIO drivers.
