Keybd Workstation or Keybd Controller?

I use Logic and Samplitude. Is there a major advantage to a Keyboard Workstation like Yamaha Motif($1600), or will Logic's Midi sequencer combined with a Keyboard Controller($600) and Proteus module($600) work about as well ?

Any suggestions appreciated,
