Hi all,
Not sure if what I want to do is legal or not and if it is, what equipment and software I will need to realise it all.
As a Karaoke Jock I often get asked for recordings of peoples performances, in a packed Pub or club with all the background going on, this is a waste of time.
With pre-recorded backing music available as well as several Shure SM58's for the vocals, I want to be able to record both into my PC, mix and adjust levels for both in a suitable Music Studio program, and then save as an MP3 or wave file for burning on to a CD.
The JVC video cd player I use for Karaoke is abviously capable of outputting the backing track and also has 2 mic inputs, so it may be possible to do the balancing and adjust levels within this unit before getting it on to my PC somehow.
Obviously not the best solution but I don't think I really need anything too sophisticated.
Getting both the backing tracks and the vocals mixed properly and then be able to record the result on to a CD is the end result I'm looking for.
If anyone can give me some solid advice on how to acheive all this, what interface I might need and a good basic editing program to use, I would be eternally grateful.
