Just getting started with home recording....I am wondering what digital recorder would be sufficient for a novice???? I would love to just throw down the money and get Roland but I don't have the money and would be wasting it's full capability. I probably only need four tracks but would like 16-24 bit quality and am not looking to spend a grand. I would also like to be able to transfer to other mixers, (specifically the roland vs-2480cd). So if anyone could throw ideas at me that would be great. Thanks

Thanks that's what I have been thinking....now iI just need to figure out what software is decent and what I need to run the instrument or mics into my computer.
