Hello:
Laugh all you like, but I'm a Mac user hoping to transcribe some vinyl and cassette 'albums' to digital form (at full sampling rate and bit depth) and burn them to CD. I have ins/outs, cabling and software figured out... and will start playing in earnest soon...
What I'd like to know is, given my modest setup, what sort of (or degree of) loss and distortion am I likely to get? That is, will the finished CD even approach the quality of the original vinyl or cassette recording, or can I expect an 'audibly significant' deterioration in the transcription?
Hard to express in words, I know, and obviously, the proof is in... but a subjective guideline from someone (anyone !) experienced in the game would be of real help.
Thanks In Advance.
