i have sonar platinum and a focusrite scrlett 2i2.
i need more help with setup im looking at recording bands what sort of equipment do i need for a home studio. thanks

'Recording bands' - what do you mean by that? Your 2i2 only has 2 mic preamps.

Do you have mics? Monitors? Acoustic treatment in your mixing room? read the stickies at the top of the Newbies section of the forum.

Watch some of these videos for a basic set up. Since you already have software (a DAW) and a sound card/preamp you need to get decent mics (the SM57 is a great one to start with) and good studio monitors. If you do the research you can make good recordings with nothing else - you'd have to use drum samples and learn a lot about mixing, but if you know what you're doing you can still make a good recording with nothing else.
