I got it from pcaudiolabs. Everything was installed. All I had to do was hook it all up. My computer is:

AMD Athlon64 3800
Soltek SL-K8TPro
1GB DDR400 2 x 512MB
ATI Radeon 9200SE 128MB Dual VGA
NEC 16x Dual Layer DVD /-RW
80GB EIDE (Primary Drive)
250GB SATA II (Audio Drive)
Microsoft Keyboard
Microsoft Optical Mouse
Floppy Drive w/Multicard Reader
Windows XP Home
Charcoal Black Desktop
Quiet Operation 450

I have the firebox w/cubase LE, V amp2, m-audio bx5a monitors , ATH-T44 headphones, Triton LE and a shure SM57 mic.

I think this setup is great for a first ever recording system. What do you think? I plan on recording black metal stuff with lots of synths. Other stuff too down the line. What do you think i'd need next?

You might want a condensor mic of some sort. Other than that, you should have a pretty cool system. Hurry up and post some tunes... :D

I will as soon as I learn the software. I like JUST got the DAW as in earlier today. So it'll be a little while before I actually post stuff. As for the condenser mic, I would like one but it's not on my top priority list. I record everything direct anyways. Well except for vocals, which I use the SM57 for. The next thing i'm buying is a damn office chair. This foldup chair is killing me. After that a new desk and some decorations for my room like black light stuff. I want to actually really like the atmosphere in here. I won't want to stay in my room all day and record if I hate my surroundings. But after all that stuff, i'll probably upgrade to Cubase SE with the VST instruments package.

how much did you spend on the DAW?

May I also highly suggest picking up a condenser mic and putting the SM57 on your amp...SM57's aren't going to give you much vocally.

Its kinda the equivalent of buying a Porshe and putting lawnmower tires on it.

well i'm just screaming into the mic. I'm not exactly doing a lot of fancy vocal stuff. All that equipment plus a NEC 19" LCD monitor cost a little under 4 grand.

I also bought a bunch of cables, a back up battery supply/surge protector to plug all my gear into and some other little things. The computer alone without the monitor cost 1800
