just joining... audio interface options??

Hey guys glad to join on here. I am a drummer and in a band at the moment. I am slowly building up my home studio to record our songs. I am in the middle now of deciding what to do to record straight to my DAW on my mac. I am currently using garageband but upgrading to logic express when I get an interface. I do not have firewire, although I wish I did, and am planning on using usb 2.0 and need several inputs for drums. I am aware of latency issues and other problems. I need a good interface around the $300 mark and looking at some tascam ones now. such as the us-1641 and so on. I need at least 5 or 6 inputs for recording drums. Any recommendations would be helpful! Thanks!

presonus digimax d8 i think it offers usb but its a great 8 channel input with xmax preamps giving u a high sound check it out or presonus has other stuff that could suit you its good quality too 300$ for the digimax

Please forgive me for saying this, I'm not having a go at anyone and I know it's come up once or twice and I get it that this isn't a grammar class.
But whatever happened to full stops ? I can overlook absence of capitals, spelling not quite there, commas even. But sometimes when there's no full stops it's hard to work out exactly what's being said. I'm not talking about missing the odd one here and there. I'm talking about complete posts that require a translation service because of the lack thereof. Have mercy on an approaching middle aged fella......

I just recieved the Tascam US-2000 in the mail that i purchased off Ebay for 350 bucks and it works great! It's pretty much an upgraded 1641 I believe. The only drawback is that it currently doesnt work very good with Windows 7 64bit OS, but I called Tascam yesterday and they told me that the drivers for Win 7 64 should be out within a month. Luckily I have multiple machines running win xp and win vista 64 and the drivers on the page work fine on those machines for me... Hope this helps.. Not much info on the 2000 on the web at the moment!

God-cursed wordsmith! All this, and you want intelligibility too? Next, you'll be asking for capitalized proper nouns. Give them an inch and they'll take a mile! You may come out of the corner when you have written an entire rap song in text shorthand, with every other word in regional slang. Get right on it.-Richie

BTW...The Digimax D8 is not an interface. It has 8 preamps with optical out.



And I totally agree about the punctuation.

The Tascam us-1641 would suite you great. I've got it, and I've always been satisfied with it! It can handle what you want from it no problem, and has more inputs for any future expansion you might have. Plus it comes with Cubase LE, which would be a great step-up from Garageband (unless you're absolutely set on buying Logic).
