being a huge satriani fan myself, hell his name is on my guitar, i can say that you did very well with your uhm 'POD' . :-p

Good sound. His sound is a little warmer but you're in the ballpark.

You are a very good guitarist. Hats off to ya!

Gosh man .. good finger work, really smooth, excellent sound control... and for a first take thing .. it's fantastic. Obviously you added your personal touch to it , it was aestheticaly done.

a good tribute to Satch, he'd be proud i'm sure.

Well done old chap.

Later doode.

Tight playing! Even sounded good on my less than audiophile quality headphones here at the office. Good job.

Alex

jeff...you pick some of the coolest songs to learn...and do it pretty decent, to boot too!!

This is my favorite satch song of all time..The melody just drips out of his fingers on this tune. It's like it plays itself. You did it justice....the only thing that stands out that needs adjusting are the claps. They need that long reverb on them that the original has!;)(I know, you're just testing out the POD,but I had to mention it.:D)

As far as the playing goes you did a fine job and the tone you're getting with the pod is almost identical....may need just a touch more of sustain to get his same tone......pretty damn close though.

Hey J..........
very nice man......... very nice! I noticed at your nowhere site that you mentioned this was done in one take......
.......................................................... LIES!!!

...just kidding:D

great work bro.......

I always look forward to hearing your stuff............ g

( ............pretty nice tone too:D )

Are you recording that direct from the POD to DAW? I caught your Surfing with the Alien earlier, I'm drooling at Blue Moon, and Always With Me, Always With You.

One day I'll be able to play like that. :)

hey Jeff,

Welcome to Pod world.. It is soo funny that you picked this tune because I have a version that a friend of mine just did.. I had to listen to them back to back to hear the differences.. very interesting..

Now use those new mics you got and mic that halfstack.. :D

thank you

clean and clear

Very nice job! not my playing style but one that I wish I could emulate. Nice mix of smooth and overdriven, done so that they compliment each other.

What's up Woodshed!! I've only listened to the original a dozen times or so way back when........
WTF was that technique at 1:00?

I thought the tone lacked a little heart but, the playing sure as hell didn't!!:D

POD shmod,,,,,,,play through what you please..

Glad I never wanted to be a slinger. I've enough personal disapointments as it is.................

Thanks for the listen J.

Peace,

Theron.

Very nice playing throughout and I liked the recording that you got here. It sounds very clean and mixed well.

Wow, one take! You can't beat that.

Excellent work!

Very nice chops my friend. My favorite Satriani tune for sure.

Thanks for all the feedback guys!

I just got back a little while ago from a rafting trip! Wow
There are soo many crazy stories on this trip that I couldnt even tell them all

Before we even get to the campsite, which is 5 hours away.... our friends new F-350 diesel pickup refuses to shift above 2nd gear 30 minutes from our destination. After we all get out and do a full inspection of the pickup we find nothing leaking or anything so we venture back down the road, carefully! We initially thought it could be the torque converter, but it seemed like some sort of electrics in the shifting process is messed up. Finally we get it to shift into the higher gears and make our way to the campsite, trying to keep the truck above 2nd gear. We finally get to the campsite at 12:30 am Sat. Everybody around the campfire is nicely buzzed. I pulled out the acoustic and we all started singing some music favorites and everything was fine. Good 'ol time. So... my brother and the guy with the paralized truck and I decide to stay up til 7:00am and by the time 7 comes around ... we said, " hey, if its this late why dont we just stay up until 9:00" thats when our raft reservation is. So, with no sleep at all we goto the raft launch and get our rafts. I look over the rafts as the guys is taking them off of the trailor and grab one that has handles because the other ones had handles that were broken. (mistake) My brother and I hop into this raft and the 20 other people from our group hop into theirs and start our 7 hour journey down the river. Well, 1 hour into our trip we notice the raft is starting to fill with water... we say no big deal because we are wearing life vests. 1 1/2 hours later we have to stop on the riverside and flip our raft to empty the water. A few hours later we start hitting some pretty fast rapids and our raft takes a good beatin'... I can now see a mini geiser shooting up from a hole in the raft. As we are going down the next set of rapids it gets pretty hectic... a couple people in front of up flip their rafts and our raft is trying not to hit the rock wall... in the process one of the my brothers oars hits my pinkey finger... pinkey starts to swell a little bit and I immediatley think about my guitar. Back in our raft its filling for the 4th time... the story goes on and on with crazy thrills and spills... but we made it to the end of the river and I vowed never to raft again :)
We get back to the camp site totally exhausted. We make our tent which is big enough for maybe two pets to sleep in.... we notice that we dont have a top for our tent... this keeps the water from coming in the top, yet keeps the tent ventelated. Seeing a thunderstorm move in we quickly rig up some garbage bags and make our own top. 10:00p comes around and we hit the hay. 2:00am thunderstorm wakes us up because one of the garbage bags has blown off our roof. My brother is getting showered on and thinking of going outside to make the repair. After, 2 seconds of thought we go out in to rain and make a quick fix and then hop bake into a very soggy tent. I look over at my brother and see he is on his hands and knees to keep from laying in the water. It was crazy! We doze off again and get woken up again afater about 45 minutes because the wind picks up to about 45 mph and takes the garbage bag off again. We then go outside in just shorts and it feels like 40 degrees in the rain... Brrrrrr! We look for the keys to the truck to sleep in there... but in the meantime somebody offers to let us in their tent with them... The rain finally stops at like 4:30 in the morning and the humidity is about 145% in the tent so I get up at 5:30 and goto a little shower place down the dirt road to take a shower.
We clean everthing up when everybody gets up and start to head back home Sun. Right when we pull out of the campsite... truck will not shift above 2nd gear. We pull into a close restraunt and have some food and think of our options.. I mention trying a computer reset on the truck because I had some crazy problems with my camaro and a comp. reset would sometimes cleaned things up... but not in this case. To make a long story short we had to drive the truck back in 2nd gear which has a maximum speed of 48mph @ 3000 rpms.

There was one good reason I went :) I saw this girl there that I had seen at a friends party. Shes this really cute little 5'1" thing thats in law school  smart... just my type :) . I was thinking about talking to her during the trip by got too nervous  a weakness of me :) first approachs suck. :) I noticed she kept looking at me most of the trip... so she must have been interested.. but I never gather enough courage to make a approach... and it was tough trying to find her by herself.
Anyways... before we left I gave my phone number to her friend and asked if she could give me a call... well see what happens :)

All in all it was a super nuts trip :)

Well, I have to catch up on lost sleep.... I'll reply to your comments tomorrow!

Hope everybody has a good Monday! :)

Welcome back dude!:D Sounds like you had a wild trip!I've had a few of these trips down to the beach to camp out and nothing goes right but in the end it's a good time and everybody gets a buzz and some sun!:DYou'll have something to talk about now when you're hanging out with your buddies that went on the trip...."Hey remember that rafting trip we went on".LOL....too cool.;)

p.s. GET THE GIRL MAN!

as told by a true lead guitar player... he comes back to not care his new toy (pod) and about the gtr licks he played that everyone here listened too...cause he knows he can play them in his sleep...but instead tells us about a piece of tail he was chasin' after. jeff, jeff, jeff.... sleep young grasshopper... maybe she'll call you early and wake you up!!:D

I had a beatiful girl... her name was Rosa Coletti..

she killed me...

I wrote a song about it..

Haha... Kramer and mixmkr ... you guys are too much :)

tvaillan-

I can definitly see what you where saying about Joe having a sweeter tone... I know on that album he used a Eventude harm.. to sweeten the sound up also. Im going to mic up my cabinet and then use the pod and I think I can dial the tone in very close to his.
As you can see Im a big fan of his too... He and his croney Steve Vai used to practice 8 hours a day. Practice makes perfect :)
Thanks!

Alex W-

Thanks Alex... Thats really cool that your listening to my music at the office. Hope I helped ya make it through the work day :)
Take care!

mixmkr-

thanks bud.... I really try to make a cerebral effort to find "good" tunes ;) I know the mix doesnt sound good, but I was just trying out the new pedal. I guess I should plug in somes mics and start redoing it :)

Kramer-

Hmmm.. the melody drips out of his fingers, but not mine. Geee.. thanks alot--- heheh :) j/k He's a pretty tough musician to do perfectly.. exp his string skipping arpeggios. Give me a little time and I'll have it exact. Promise! :) Yes, those claps do need more reverb... but I wasnt worrying too much about the whole mix.. just checking the pedal out. I also noticed I was about 2 bpm fast on the rythm and those million note arpeggios are tough to pull off faster than the satch man. :)
Thanks Kramer!

Guernica-

One take! I wish... If you listen closely you can hear the cut tape in there :) hehe

Thanks G

Evildick-

Hey... I am recording direct into POD and then stereo into mixer then into DAW. So, yeah pretty much a straight shot. Thats very cool that you like Blue Moon... Thats one of my favs too :) Keep your chops up and you will do great! Good Luck!

Samicide-

Thanks G... Yeah .. its a cool song to do... and yes I will mic up my cabinet and shoot for that satch tone ;)

Axe4Yahweh-

Thanks bud... I'll glad you liked!

Sonixx-

Thanks for listening :)

wfaraoni-

Thanks for taking the time to listen. I do agree how the slightly distorted rythm compliments the lead channel. :) Take care!

theron-

Woodshed! Hahaha... thats funny.
I'll nail that tone once I mic my cabinet up... Im sure it will sound alot better :)
Thats alot for stopping by to say hey.
Peace!

boydrj-

It was actually a couple different takes. :) I kinda meant it was a first take on the song.

Thanks a bunch for the input!

trackrat-

Thats cool.. this is your fav. satch song. :) I really think you did an awsome job on the Beatles song. Very professional and you have an excellent voice. Dont let anybody tell you different! Good luck to you!
