hi there. i have been using adobe audition to mix my guitar tracks and vocals and what not. but recently decided to try acid pro 4.
it seems cool, if a little advanced. but one thing i cant seem to do is highlight a certain section of a track and then just edit that section on its own.
is acid pro more suited to loops and samples than mixing 'songs'??
any help would be appreciated.
thanx..DAVE

It's loop-based, but you can easily record regular instruments into it and edit them. I do it all the time.

What exactly are you trying to do?

EDIT: Not all programs behave the same. If you're trying to use something you're used to in Audition, the same function might be accessed differently in Acid.

hi

i am bascially trying to select a certain portion of a track and then just edit that portion. like, i wanna increase the volume on a certain part of the waveform.
in audition, ya could just highlight the bit you wanted to effect.

any ideas?

Like I said, things work differently in Acid.

Right click on the track and a little box should come up. Select Add/remove envelopes->Volume. A blue line should appear in the middle of the track. This is a volume envelope. Double click on the line to create points where you want to raise the volume. Now click and drag the envelope up to increase or down to decrease.

Did your version of Acid come with a manual?

Is your software registered?

thanks for the advice. yeah, i have registered my copy. i will try what you said.
couldnt really find any good online help for acid pro either.
i'll keep looking.
thanks again.

sorry to be annoying, but in audition, there was a neat function where you could insert silence....does acid pro have that?

Yes, I think it's under the Edit functions. You can insert time or measures.

go to sonymediasoftware.com and download the manual. if you take a few nights to just get to know the program you will have most of your questions answered. i find that if i'm trying to learn about a program at the same time trying to work and complete projects, i'll be a bit more impatient and i won't take the time necessary to learn all the steps and processes to correctly perform tasks.

but that's just me

thanks. yeah, i just downloaded the manual. some heavy reading. i get the impression that acid pro is hard to use at first, but also a very powerful tool.
thanx for all the help people.

believe it or not it's probably one of the easiest if not THE easiest to use. it'll hit you one day and you'll completely get how it works and u'll never want to use anything else, accept maybe the latest version or updates. :)

acid does all you can imagine

just go though the tutorials in help section

keep searching advice on acid. acid is used
and relied upon by many top producers.
