Well I"ve got the sound card, the software and the preamp is on the way - Now I need to know, can I record with the same mic that I use to perform? I have a PEAVEY Diamond Series PVM 22.

You can record with any mic, even a crappy one.
I have a low opinion of Peavey mics (in a recording sense) but it'll function for you if that's all you have.
