Thought I'd join the punk covers trend around here. Inspired by Variaxman's effort but coudn't go in the Ramones rumble because it's NOT a ramones song! Haha, anyway... rough and not too true to the original

Sweet guitar sounds, dude. Really fits the tune well. The verb you put on your vocals fits the 80's thing well. Nice job there. Cool leads. Nice and dirty sounding.

Nice sounds and feel...I don't know the original, so as far as I'm concerned, this is pure SnakeDog-ism! I like the thick neck pick-up sound you got on the lead. WOOF!
 
Now I want to try to listen to it during the day. :) Got to work with a team of others today so I can only sneak in internet moments here and there. :)
 
Wow, I would have never predicted waking up and half my thread has turned into a pic of a dolphin :p Yeah, I just had fun with the structure and made 0 effort to learn the original leads. Cool you guys like the sounds since I was kind of also doing a microphone test on this song too. I'm trying to get away from recording direct so much.

I might retrack the vox, try it with more anger :mad: :mad: :mad: maybe.. and for some reason I was short on breath last night and it shows in places :rolleyes:

But thanks True! :D Glad you like the geeeetar and song. I'm still trying to figure out the vocal thing, in fact...

I updated the file a bit, brought the rhythms up more in the verses and replaced the first verse with another vocal take from last night.
 
hell yeah, nice man. Im at work so only comp speakers but im digging it from here. Love the guitars. Drums sound pretty rocking on these. Downloading this one at home. Not much comment but I was rocking at work for sure man.

That is a seriously great recording!

Take that as an independent judgment, 'cause I've never heard the original, nor did I ever listen to "Bad Religion",... although my wife has one of their cds in her truck's cd player, right now. I typically pop it out and drive with my own mix cds. I'm a selfish bastard, eh? Heh.;)

Hey Snakedog...those vocals are cool! I'm not familer with the original song,but your style kinda reminds me of old Iggy and the stooges with that sick guitar tone(I mean that in a good way!)
 
Hey guys, thanks for the listens! I'm now inspired to mess around with micing the guitars more. I'm finally getting into that because my old mic was from Radioshack... enough said :rolleyes: This was my first attempt with my new mic and all I did was place it in front of the amp and try to make it sound nasty :D

I used to listen to Bad Religion a bunch when I was younger, I still think they have some good stuff which is excellent for working out IMO. Plus it's fun to grab the guitar and play a punk tune really loud now and then too. I'll probably do it again this weekend, Ramones style!!

Axman, thanks about the vox man. I'd still give that Queen cover a shot if you like. I have more time now ;)

Very cool thick sound to the gtrs and the overall mix. But I'm jealous because you've got that cool dolphin pic in your thread... makes me want to jump in that bright blue water. I've never had a dolphin in one of my threads. :mad:

I find it amusing that all you tough rock star guys out there can't handle a harmless dolphin pic. Ok, so it is somewhat big but until I to figure out how to make the image smaller, ITS JUST A DOLPHIN! IT'S all happy too, that should mean something.

Your new vocal version is better but they need to be a little louder. This is a cool song. I always thought this song was a good song but sounded like it was recorded in the bathroom! What was the original from 1984? Your version is different and more of like what a new live performance would be like. Fine work, do you do anymore br covers? I see your profile that you're a biologist like them, now all you need is a ph.D like them and your set. The track is a keeper is all I really mean to say here :) Now deal with the dolphin again :)

Dolphin, I'm not scared of you or your pic. Okay, I am. But yeah I did one other BR cover years back and trust me on this... it's not worth posting... not only is it bad, but I changed the lyrics from the conflict of humans destroying their own planet to the conflict of the two dogs in my backyard :D

Yeah, but the dolphin you put in my thread is just a regular dolphin. Dolphin Babe's dolphin has its own link to vBulletin's site, so it's obviously a pic of some kind of web-developer-from-Atlantis-or-even-outer-space-dolphin. I want a space dolphin pic.

Dolphin Babe, beware of SnakeDog because he's not only a tough rock star dude but a gangsa too.
