I just bought the rode nt2a mic, and it will be here by tuesday, i have a m-audio profire 610 interface and was wondering if you should suggest that i get a seperate preamp or just use the preamp that is in the profire 610? If you suggest getting a seperate preamp, i was looking at the focusrite trackmaster. let me know some feedback info.

I've used my NT2-a's with my internal Firestudio preamps, and recently my new RNP. Its an improvement with the RNP (obviously) but stock interface preamps sound fine.

Yes and no for the same reasons that seafroggys spoke of.
You may want a preamp that will color your source while using your Rode or maybe not.

Once you start to understand and know which different preamps in combination with different microphones will do to your source that your tracking ....you may end up with a few different preamps in your arsenal. ;)
