Just bought Audio Technica AT4033...got a good deal

I saw the 8thstreet.com bulk discount price(299.00) but I didnt feel like waiting for it in the mail. So I went to Sam Ash to buy one...350.00. But I told them about 8thstreet's price and they matched the 299.00. I was pretty happy about that.

Anyway, the mic is great. It came with a case and shockmount in the original box. The guy there said he thought there was too much low end for male vocals to use...but he also said it's a great mic. Perfect for using as an overhead for drums and micing instruments. I'm thrilled to own it.

I played with one a couple weeks ago in Mars and had our drummer (who has a voice like Jim Morrison) sing into it. He's not the shy type and let loose for a good couple of minutes while I listened in the phones. Anyway, I thought the sound was fucking incredible - not too low at all, even with him. Enjoy!

Agreed.. I'm satisfied with the 4033's frequency response throught the spectrum.. and I've only ever used it for male vocals and overheads.

I think it's remarkably good for a large diaphram condenser at the $300US price point.

It figures some idiot salesperson would say somethin' that might fumble the sale. I have a 57 and a rodent and some old shures, the 4033 is definately high on the priority list.
