Oh, ok Jeff so it's ok to be racist in the other forums. You are so full of yourself it's not funny. Beck's reasons for reporting the thread were the same reason that I called it, jokingly, a "black market" . And which ultimately got it banned from ebay. It was cheezy and cheap auction. Get over yerself!

I'll explain further why I suggested that stuff like this should be done in the cave;

The Analog forum is an open forum to the public and to search engines like Google. If someone is doing a Google search under certain keywords, there's a decent chance that one of the links will be straight to this place.

Case in point; A couple of weeks back, someone in here was asking a question about a Yamaha mixer. I did a Google search for the model in question and a link on the first page of links came right to our forum here.

This is why I originally asked for some refrain too because this is a public place that anyone can view. That's why you guys need to keep your ignorance and hatred to yourselves and out of here...even in joking around.

And, I'm not claiming to be an angel here either. I openly admit to making all manner of off color jokes over the years but I don't do it here.

You've encapsulated much of what drove me to post about what I did but, it's also been my experience that people who make racial comments such the ones which were said said here do so because they are in fact racists in their heart or hearts.

I understand your point of view, believe me, but, to be perfectly honest and with all due respect, I see no evidence, despite the unfortunate words used in the context of this board and thread, which point me to believe that these are the hallmarks of a racist people.

Again, I can totally understand how one may disagree but my experience is a bit different in that I really don't believe there must be a correlation between words such as the above used, again in the context of this thread example, and someone being a bigot. This is not a black and white issue (pardon the pun) but there's also a lot of grey area and that's where we are, in that grey area and, IMHO, calling someone an outright bigot is not very responsible.

With regard to the "prostitute" remark, I really do believe you'd get the same with an equally distasteful white female on that console. It was just unfortunate that she was black. This was just an aweful, lewd and unattractive photo, superimposed or not and thus the offhand remarks. I've seen some truly beautiful black females, artfully and tastefully photographed and this was not it.

Thanks Daniel, yeah, that was exactly the joke behind it. I was going to say slut or whore but I don't normally talk like that, and they sound more derogative to me so I said prostitute . The comment of Black Market has nothing whatsoever to do with someones skin color. It has to do with auctions in the past which have sold drugs or other things under the guise of something else. Things which the buyers are already looking for.

Agreed but at the same time it was ambiguous enough to trigger off something else than intended, especially a reaction by a person who may be sensitive to the issue of race.

I really do believe that what we have here is just a massive failure to communicate and understand each other, a HUGE experience gap in this area for sure, between several members.

I long for the old days when the most we had to worry about around here was Mr. Moose, his knock-knock jokes and hundreds of ping-pong balls falling from the sky. Times change I guess.

Oh, we had a little spat now and then, like when I kept referring to Mr. Moose as, “The Dark One” and Jeff thought, “Moose of Color” would be more sensitive. Dr. ZEE just called him “That Brown Gay Bitch Moose” or sometimes just, “Boy.” But we overlooked our little differences then and got along. Mr. Bunny Rabbit never said anything. I used to always think he was mad at me or thought we were all nuts, but we could still work together.

I will confess I noticed Dancing Bear was black right off… I mean I noticed that before I even noticed he was dancing and he wasn’t wearing pants, but it was a small community then and we hadn’t seen many puppets of color up close.

By the way in the photo below… that’s me on the left before I had my beard; Dr ZEE in the middle and Ghost on the right (cjacek was taking the picture… nice job too). Looking at that picture you can feel the love... We were like brothers. What’s happened to us?
