Hi there,

Problems still...the cables I ordered for the moniter/mixer connection were in fact the wrong type, so I still have no connection for my nice expensive moniters which I've had for quite a while now! Now I'm afraid to order off the internet again because the same thing might happen! It's a 1/4" to XLR connection.

But anyway, I was just wondering where you would connect the moniters too on the mixer? It's a Behringer MX2642A. How would you switch between listening on headphones or moniters and all that jazz?

Cheers!

Yo Badge:

Order your cables from some vendor who will take them back if they are the "wrong" cables. Sweetwater or MF or Full Compass.

Ask for a techie when you order the cables to confirm that what you are ordering will work with your gear.

I have on/off switches for my speakers; your cans should have a phones plug which runs them independently.

You can also check with the maker of your speakers for further advice.

Hahaha, I cannot believe this!!! Turns out the sockets are combined XLR/jack, so all this time I could've used an everyday 1/4" lead to hook them up!! Hahaha!!! Needless to say I've hooked em up now, and I'm very happy!! :D:D:D

Yeah I know, I know...At the moment I'm just using ordinary cheap guitar leads to hook em up, are these balanced/unbalanced and what difference would it make? They sound pretty damn good anyway!

On short runs (under 10') there won't be any difference in sound, unless the system is plagued by EMI/RFI and such. Balanced systems are superior at rejecting interference, especially on longer runs. I'd balance them though.

thats cool, these leads must be less than 5', and i haven't got the money to be buying new cables regardless!
