Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone could help me with a couple of things.
First of all i was wondering how to get a dual monitor setup with a laptop and is it easy.
Secondly I have just purchased a alesis multimix 12usb and am waiting for it to come. I was wondering how easy is it and how to set it up to simultaneously record tracks with cubase sx2.
Thanks.

For the dual monitor setup, you will have to buy a spliter so you can turn your stereo connection into 2 mono connections

Most laptop video cards do not support dual monitor, do they?

Aren't we talking about audio moniters... as in speakers?

You could probably get a dual monitor setup if you use your laptop screen as one of the monitors. I'm sure I did that with my old laptop once.

Yea, you could use your laptop monitor and attach another one to the video out if your laptop has one. The software might have a clone or extended desktop option. Other than that, you'd have to have a video card with a DVI and VGA out.

anyone know anything about the alesis usb12?

i have the multimix 16usb... but any of the usb multimix's will only send one stereo output simultaneously. the firewire versions are wayyyyy better for recording more than one track, as they will send em all.

i like my 16usb, because i dont record more than one track at a time. but if you NEED to, send it back (once you get it) and upgrade to the firewire version.

You Deffinately should have gotten the Firewire version of the Multimix cuz as the other posted allready mentioned the USB one will only send a Stereo Mix to your PC so you will Not be able to adjust the Levels after recording and you won"t have 12 seperate Tracks of recording but just a simple stereo Track......

If I were you I would Send the USB back as soon as you get it and Fork out the extra for the Firewire one as USB audio (And Video) devices just do not have the available Bandwidth for Recording Multiple seperate Tracks at once.....

Cheers
