I have recently upgraded my sound card and returned to Win XP. The reason I was running 98ME was because of ADAT connect wouldn't support XP. Now I have salvaged an older computer for my ADAT connect. Here in lies the problem. It doesnt have a burner on it. So there is no way to get the files to my mixing computer, unless I go with an external harddrive and some fire wire cards. I don't think that I want to go down that road. I am looking to the future for upgrading away from the ADATS. Drum roll please! Is it possible to transfer the instrument tracks via a jump drive (USB)? I could get one that holds 1gb and when I upgrade I'll have it for home storage stuff. Is it possible or will the files be too big? If not I'll have to buy a cd burner for a machine Iwill probably trash with in the year.

Depending on the amount of tracks you'll be transferring, I don't see why a 1 gig jump won't work for you... A CD would only hold 700-800 megs or so if you were to burn.

:)

no more than 16...which is about what i do with a cd.

I have a 1 gig jump drive and use it for transferring files between systems with no problems.

yep, jump drives are great. mine's only 128 mb, but I usually don't put .wav files on them. just Reason documents and refills(patches) and sometimes samples.
