yeah I have a friend that is going there next year for bass, exxxpppeeennnsssiiivvve like hell. Yeah and Mayer is a great guitarist, his DVD is really cool
When I finished my 4 years at Berklee in 1978, it cost about $2500/yr...or in that neighborhood. The first year dropout rate was over 80% supposedly, but that was attributed to people leaving school for a gig, or they were just too blown away by all the talant walking the halls. Looking back, that was one period of time in my life that FAR exceeds any other time in being surrounded by the best musicians available. Whether you learned anything or not was up to you. I swear I had a roomate as good as Chick Corea. He ended up becoming a doctor!
oh...the 'state of the art' studio at the time consisted of a black face MCI board and a one inch MCI 8 track to match....Big Red monitors and an AKG BX20 spring reverb. However, a mic collection to die for. The electronic labs were full of ARP Odyesses (sp?) and a couple 2600, and a flagship 2500. Ha...basically monophonic synths!!
btw...I would describe Mayer was your "typical" Berklee guitar player...in abilty, that is. Nothing special, but pretty decent. I think it is his voice and youth that has helped him more. ....but a "one trick pony", eh?
