JoeMeek VC1Q or MicroMeek VC3Q or ?

I'm looking for a good pre amp to buy & these two appear to stand out from what I've read searching the forums, so I'm wondering if these are good pre amps & if so which one do you favor? however if you do disagree please suggest a product so I can look into it, I want to get a good pre amp cause I hear it's one of the most important elements for quality sound.
 
The VC3Q is a nice entry level preamp for $199. the VC1Q is a couple of steps up at $599 and worth it.

Here are some of the contenders in the $350-$700 range:

Channel strips: ART Tube Channel, ART Pro Channel, Presonus VXP, Meek VC6Q, Meek VC1Q, Mindprint Envoice, DBX 376 & 576.

Preamps only: Grace Design 101, Davisound TB-6. Presonus MP20, DBX 386 & 586, ART Pro MPA.
