Getting better
Hello. Not wanting to hijack Richard Monroe's excellent thread on the TwinQ, I wanted to ask if anyone knows more broadly about the new Meek line. I am looking for a single-channel pre or channel strip, and so the OneQ would be a realistic goal, although it may turn out to be too pricey. So how does the cheaper 3Q measure up? Is it the same pre that's in the TwinQ? And what about the as-yet-unreleased 6Q? Is that a true step up from the 3Q, or will that be a poor man's OneQ?
I'm looking for an alternative to my M-Audio pres, a differnent flavor. I would like to stay in the $500 range for a single channel. I'm considering The Brick, SafeSound P1, M-Audio Tampa, even the RNC/RNP combo I just had to sell to raise some quick cash.... But I really only want one realy good channel, something different from the pres in my Omni (DMP-2s). I record vocals first and foremost, but also acoustic guitar, mandolin, hand percussion in my humble bedroom studio. Mics: A-T 4047SV, Marshall V77 and 603S (X2), Shure 545, etc.....
If the TwinQ really sounds like Richard's Avalon, I think maybe I'm on to something with Meek... What do you all think?
Note:Any manufacturers or sellers of audio equipment are WELCOME to respond to my message.
