Joe Meek Twin Q

Sorry to say that the answer is no, unless you were at a recent show. The twinQ is not yet shipping, but will be shipping soon. The threeQ is shipping now.

I own a twinQcs, the older version, and it is a workhorse preamp in my little studio. I wait with great anticipation for the new twinQ, which I hope to trade mine in on, if the price is right. The old one is a very good preamp, especially for vocals, and the new one promices to be much better. The chip has been upgraded to reduce distortion (closer to a Grace 101 than the old amp). EQ has been expanded to 5 bands, the very cool optical compressor is still there. Digital output is now hard wired and included. A transformer has been added, which can be inserted into the signal chain, or removed, at the touch of a switch. Go Alan! Build my new preamp!-Richie

They are in production as we speak..... Shipping to me end of this month, so add three weeks ocean time to that.

Thanks Alan. I'll keep my eyes on the music stores.

Hey Alan, how's thing going???

So what's up with the new TwinQ? Looks like a transformer front end, with switchable bypass???

Lay the details on us!!!:D

Hey C7...Yes, this is a Bad Ass! AES/EBU, Coax, Optical outputs as standard, with Word Clock. Burr Brown Front end, with switchable transformer in or out to aid warmth and air. One bad mofo compressor now with gain makeup, much better metering, killer EQ....what more could one ask for?

I think the unit is going to be a big hit, because at $799.99, there is nothing with that amount of features for that price, and each one is really killer. I did not design it electronically. I laid out the working design, but Allan Bradford; CLM Dynamics Fame, did all the design. He deserves a huge pat on the back.

So that is it...In production now so right around the corner....

OK, now this is one of the points where the anti-Alan Brigade will launch their terrorist attack. Alan, you are a great contributor to this board, and to the world of Pro Audio, and I think a new product is like a gig, or a release, or a baby, and you get to spam it *ONCE*. In fact, I personally believe you should get to post spread sheets, graphs and post clips of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir...*Once*.
You see, spam is as spam does. If a guy promotes himself a little just by referring to his experience- Blue Bear, Light, Massive Master, and many others, including myself, it can be OK. When some clueless jerk wants to make wild claims about a cheap Chinese mic, and has no contribution to make, this board shoots him down like a duck. When Alan says the twinQ will not suck, at its price point, I believe him, enough to reserve a unit. And I know Alan will take care of it, and me, because it's what he, and Brent, and Justin do, as a rule.
And so it's like you get one "Get out of Jail Free" card. Go forth, my son and spam no more-Richie

Hey Ritchie,

I am being optimistic here...I don't think we will get any. If I am wrong about the unit, I am sure I will hear about it, but not on this baby. Ain't no way.

I think the people will take it as it was. Answering C7's question. My opinion is always just that, but this time, I hope it is smooth sailing.

I wish all companies were as easy to talk to and access as Alan is. He is always there and ready to help. THANKS ALAN. What Alan does it not spam he answers our questions. If all Alan did was post his product up forsale and left than that would be spam.

I wish Uli would come on here and answer some questions about his Behringer gear.

All Alan did was answer my original question - and obviously no better person to do it! No spam complaints here. :-) By the way, for other Canadian folks out there, I've confirmed the price will be $995 CAN.

Still a good deal at that futurestar... Not long now.....

A couple more weeks and they will be in. They are rock solid, all UK designed and the build is excellent. We are just about there. The new threeQ has been getting excellent reviews from users and it is built in the same factory.

Sorry to briefly hijack this thread, but you mentioned the new ThreeQ. I bought a TrakPak (NAMM show demo unit) from PMI a couple of years ago. I love the MQ3 and it front ends most of my tracks via the JM47 (o.k., SM58 for guitar but ONLY for guitar). How does the ThreeQ differ from the MQ3?

- warning - another thread hijack to follow!

Alan,

I've been looking into the Toft stuff, ATC-2, EC-1 mainly. And I see they've got the AFC-2 coming out. First off, when is the expected sale date of the AFC-2? I've seen it listed on some sites (8th Street) but understand no one has them yet for sale. Secondly, is the EQ unit in the AFC-2 the same as in the ATC-2, or has it been modified (like the one from the EC-1)?

I'm just trying to get a nice vocal channel strip and for the price the Toft equipment looks good. Liked Fletchers review on the ATC-2.

Course, now there's this JoeMeek Twin Q coming... yet another option!
