Joe Meek Twin Q or Presonus MP20?

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one who's noticed it, at least. It's the first time I can remember him having bothered to send me a 'nasty' PM. Business must be going slowly in his recording empire if he has the time to waste on that ...

I don't understand what you guys have against people posting negative opinions. This is supposed to be an open forum ... not some love-fest that posts only warm fuzzies. If someone has a negative opinion, I want to hear those, too. Every individual experience is helpful to the community, in some way, when shared. Even when authored by raving lunatics. :D

No, I'm afraid you're confused. My negative opinion is that DJL brings nothing to the forum except pastes of others' posts and his rubbish about PMI. He has never shown a single iota of ability or thinking of his own besides his bizarre U-turn over some claim regarding PMI Customer Service.

What's warm and fuzzy about that?

The difference is that whilst you have an attitude problem, you have a somewhat informed and entertaining attitude problem, and your website with your philosophy and mp3 clips show you are the complete bad attitude package. With DJL all you get is the lip but without the brains and the jokes.

DJL's a Chessrock wannabe! Oh wait ... that was the other thread ... :D

Ya know what, Noisedude? I've come to accept that fact that you're just right.

Noisedue says ... therefore it is true.

Elaboration is simply not necessary. Noisedude has his shit down.

You're getting there ... now work on this one for me:

Chessrock is right, Noisedude is right. Air Supply are wrong.

Repeat after me ...

Well, if I really did repeat after you, then most of my posts would probably go something like :

DJL is mean ...

DJL is the devil ...

My p&$$y hurts, because DJL was heckling me ...

I'm so sad, and life sucks, and it's all because DJL is so mean and harrasses people all the time.

Come now, don't be so hard. My life is great, and my pussy is fine. DJL isn't the devil, he's just a bored and rather unintelligent person with far too much time on his hands. Everything is fine. What's your excuse? :)

Ok, as an olive branch til you come back, here's a little tip for your website. I know you built it with the Yahoo Pagebuilder, but if you can get into the HTML side of things you can put a real copyright logo in instead of '(c)' if you type '&copy' where you want the little 'c' in a circle to appear.

And when you want lessons in Synthics I'll be here waiting for you. :)

Now... that is some funny stuff.

I know... Joemeek, Nady, Studio Projects, Behringer, etc... just to name a few.

Anyway, I'm out of this thread... and God help us all who don't worship PMI.

I have the presonus mp20 along with many other mic pre's from all different price ranges. I have always been impressed with presonus, part of the reason is the mp20. Although if you are recording to digital and probaly are. I would try and get something with a limiter on it.

Ya know ... I think the only budget / mid-priced mic pre that I've ever tried out and was actually disappointed with was an MP-20.

I guess knowing it was Class A w/ transformer input, etc. I was expecting a little more, but it was still pretty much a letdown.

I'm going to make a sweeping generalization here and say Presonus makes some moderately offensive gear for the most part.

The MP20 is a bit overpriced now-a-days, since they don't put the Jensens in them. I do like mine good enough though. It has the BurrBrown mod and some day I might do the Jensen mod. Sounds good for overheds. Prolly doesn't stack up to a $1000+ pre.

I would say the exception to that would be the Central Station, but then again the signal path is totally passive. I've also gotten some decent sounds out of a Eureka.

YMMV.

From what I've seen of the Eureka (an admitted blurry photo), it's the same preamp as the MP20, which of course doesn't have the other bits in the channel strip.

I know I came into this thread a little late, but I just wanted to add my opinion that the new ThreeQ is an improvement over the older Joemeek MQ3. The preamp is much cleaner and less noisy, the compressor isn't that different at all, and the EQ is much nicer, IMO. It's a good value for the money.
