I'm using this Marshall pre-amp in my home studio using the speaker emulator lined into my mixing board.I love the distortion and clean channels it provides along with the total isolation with this set up.The clean channels are totally clean and I was wondering if I could use a distortion pedal into the main input to dirty up this super clean Twin Reverb type sound.I can't really reduce the distortion on the distortion channels to achieve the sound I'm looking for. Will plugging in a pedal into the main input hurt the circuitry of the pre-amp in any way?

It should be fine, I've been using a valve pre-amp and various pedals with the DI out on my valve amp pumped straight into a mixer with no issues. Best check the direct output of the pedal into your mixer beginning with the gain right down to make sure the pedal output is dialed to a similar level to the guitar direct to the mixer before plugging and playing with the pre-amp. A lot of pedals have a volume control and best to tailor its output to something similar to the raw guitar output to prevent over-driving the pre-amp and getting additional potentially unwanted distortion and once agin reducing your options.

Regards

Tim
