Hey guys,

JJ Cale's "Call The Doctor" is the song I've recorded more than any other. For some reason I have a billion versions of this tune on my hard drive. I'm not sure that this is the definitive, but it's definitely the most recent. It was actually almost ready around the time he died earlier this year, but I figured it best to let it simmer:

It's sloppy, lofi and not necessarily always on time, but I'm pretty happy with it.

I'm also a DIY pedal guy, so I really wanted to try a custom fuzz that we've been selling as band merch on the keyboard--it gets a little crazy in the second half.

Thanks for listening! Any other JJ Cale fans out there?

I don't know the original so I can't compare, but this sounds pretty good to me. The ambience and reverbs are a little OTT but they work in this. Even that lead guitar seems to have found a home, although it's right on the edge :)

Thanks! I appreciate you taking the time to listen/comment. I swear the initial idea was for a more low-key folk cover, but once I added the fuzzy keyboard line there was no turning back. Ha.
