Anybody had the chance to A/B these speakers? I've heard good things about the Yamahas, but they are fairly cheap compared to others.

The JBL's go from 70Hz - 20kHz
Yamaha's go from 50Hz - 40kHz
Event PS6 are 45hz - 20kHz

Am I gonna miss anything if I get the PS6's and my monitors cut out at 20kHz instead of 40kHz? I thought 20kHz was supposed to be the limit of human hearing, could be wrong... thanks.

Hey happy............... forget the specs - use your ears!!!! There's NO other way to decide - spec's alone will not even give you half the picture..........

I own the Yamaha MPS5 monitors and they work well for me. I do find that some of my mixes have too much bottom when heard on home stereo equipment. My ears haven't yet adapted to mixing well with them. They are very loud and clear and have some roll off switches that you can use to tailor the sound. But I agree that if you can you should try them all and see what you like best. There was also an article called something like "Big things in small packages" in Electronic Musician a few months back that reviewed the monitors you mentioned and a few others. Good luck!

Happy, I just ordered a pair of LSR25s, will be here next week. Look for my post at mixing/mastering forum. Also check out the thread KRK V8 vs PS8.

Almost forgot, I'm in Toronto - so you can come check'em out.

I have the MSP5 cos it's the only one I can get in my area that I can afford. :)

anyway, I have no complain using it.

like bear said, trust your ears.... and your wallet! :)
