Jazz Quartet Demo CD Mix

Hey everyone, I'm the guitarist/soundman in this jazz band I'm with, and we decided to make a demo cd to give away at gigs, or to entertainment directors of malls, etc. This is the 3rd song clip I've mixed out of the total eleven tracks that will be on the cd. It is a Windows Media file, I hope this isn't a problem for anyone.

I really want everyone's feedback/criticism, but only about the sound of it, not about the musicianship as that's negligible at this point. I greatly appreciate all of your comments. Thanks in advance!

PS. I know at the end of the file theres a discrepancy with one beat where the drummer went off; I've only corrected 3 tracks so far, it's taking a while because all of the tracks were live in one room.

wow!!! this is something we don't hear often on .com!!!

the fragment was very short so a bit hard to judge ... there was some boominess somewhere but i can't make out where. is it the guitar?

only minor critique : well played and recorded, good overall sound ...

it sounds like jazz which is good in this case.

Thanks for the feedback! We are a group of 17-18 year olds so the well played comment makes my day. I don't really know where the boominess is coming from.. There's a shelving lf eq on the guitar at around 300Hz because I didn't want it to mess with the low end of the bass/drums. I have a feeling the weird sound is due to the fact that the sax was recorded with a shotgun mike and everything in the room was within a 18x10 foot space. I also think the level of the bass may be a bit much.

Try soundclick. THis site is goofy, needs an ID :confused: , puts you through hoops etc. If you put it on Soundclick, we can press PLAY and listen.

Sounds very good, its a pleasure to hear something different around this dump :) Playing is good, music is good. My suggestion would be to try and get a wider mix. :)

Pretty cool....jazzy...playing is tight and mix sounds good.... I can hear what DavidK means about the width - it sounds great but a bit mono....still sounds great though... Could enjoy a few more minutes - the clip is too short...... :D
