Would like opinions of how to record live jazz band with various number of mics. 2 mics and up.

I'm curious as to whether a horn section will be used. Jazz is my thing and i have an
upcoming project with a 9-piece jazz band
which includes: 4 piece horn section(will use 2 Rode NT-2's and 2 NTv') 1 acoustic bass
(prob mike with Sennheiser Md421 due to it's 5 position bass control and smooth freq response)Drums ( 3-4 57's and 58's, still testing overheads Akg's vs Audio technica's)
I have 'bout 4 1/2 weeks for starty of this project, so i am curious as to what will be your mike setup also! Thanx and good luck!

This is for a jazz band with 14 horn players and 4 rhythm players
Right now I have two AKG400 and a hand full of SM57 and 58's. I will be recording into cubase with Gina card. Do not know if should just use the two AKGs into card or use a mixer with several mics into card.

Are the AKG400s condenser mics? I'm not familiar with them ...
If they are, I would use a stereo pattern with those two mics of the whole group (maybe experiment with focusing on the horns a little more than the rest of the group) and then roll off a little of the bass freqs. Then I'd at least close mic the kick w/ a 58, snare w/ a 57 and bass with a 58 (or direct to the board, if possible). If there's more percussion, close mic that as well ... and maybe a solo mic for horn would be worth it too.
