Jam Session recording

OK so I couldn't find too much anywhere on this site or through google on this topic. My buddie is coming over and we want to jam and record it just in case we hit on something. What's a good setup for this? Right now, I'm not looking to buy a portable recorder, but I do hear they are wondering for this. Any suggestions? Mind you this isn't "keeper" quality, just away to lay mess around and save some ideas for later.

For easy use and easy to set up I would get a Zoom H2.

the zoom h4n sounds like a better idea than the h2 since it has more flexibility which would suit you well over time.
