Hey guys, just put up the first mix of the finals for the Alpha Beta Album.

Jadah and the Jaded

Unfortunately at this point I'm not too much in the way of making adjustments (time constraints), but nevertheless, your thoughts are always needed.

On a side note, the album "Politic Weapons" will be avaible for download exclusively on soundclick for free. We are shooting for a September 11th release, which we decided would be fitting for the theme of the album.

So if you like what you hear, please feel free to check up on the link, send me a PM here, or catch me at leerosarioaudio@hotmail.com

I'm always up for talking shop, so hit me up.

Band sounds good, cohesive and tight for this one, nice performance. Can't hear anything off and I even like the MBD on this tune. Great work Lee!

:D I really appreciate the comments, Bob. It's good that you say that, considering how I had decided to take the same approach (mixwise) when I start remixing the other tunes.

I'm really glad it hit you the right way

The return of real guitar sounds - for that alone you're a hero.
A greta pop rock sound (that's what we'd call it in Australia anyway as we have a tradition of it - ACDC, Angels, etc).
Nice mix & the vocals balance well.
I like the guitar figures woven ove the top too.
As a bassist I'd have like a little more bass definition - but as I said as a bassist - not a balanced view !
Top work Lee.

wow...I think I'm finally starting to fine tune my craft. You and Bob are some of my toughest critics. So in a humbled mind, I'm definitly honored for the good response :D

:D very kind words :)

I'm listening to your tunes as we speak....really really good sounds...who engineers for you guys?

Thanks for listen, Lee!!
Recorded 8 years ago,ADAT and a Soundcraft board , all "hardware" gear. Pedro Figueiredo, a great engineer and musician here (Brazil), recorded, mixed and mastered.

Listen to the beginning where everything accents and stops...there is a metallic sounding 'squeak' of some sort. Listen and see if you hear it. Are the drums programmed or live? Over compressed...I know there are coversions factors to MP3, but is pretty compressed man.

Sorry, just a couple of notes. The song is very well-rounded and commercially ready to go, minus a couple of tweaks in the production, namely the guitar or whatever 'squeak' and the heavy use of compression.

Professional job and better than I could do.

thanks for the observations and kind words. :)

It's funny you mentioned the squeak, because I put up the same mix on a live sound system and the engineer said the same thing. I thought he was talking about the hi hat for a second, but then I realized he was talking about the guitar harmonics. So that's what that is, just the fingers sliding up and down the strings. I guess it became more accentuated with the brick wall limiting.

The drums are real, but like you said, processed for effect. We did do some cymbal muting on this one for this cut kind of effect on the drums, which we hoped would sound more "thrash". The drummer being a big coheed & cambria fan.

But again, really keen observations, and if I ever get the chance to tweak it again, I've definitly taken note of it. :)

the guy's got talent! it wasn't a soundcraft ghost by any chance, was it? Do you remember?

A very interesting song. Well played and sang. Agree with the strage guitar harmonics.

When it first started it reminded me of an old Uriah Heep song. That brought back some fond memories of a great band.

Post when the album is done I might like to get a copy of it if there a few songs of this quality.

I don´t remember the model, and at website I´m not looking nothing similar, nor discontinued line
(I hope were really a soundcraft and i´m nothing fooling myself) :D
But, Not a "ghost model".
And studio change it, for a pro tools "slave board".
I will ask to studio owner and tell you, ok?
