Hey guys!

Just looking for a little mixing critique on this new little tune that's kind of a cross between Jack Johnson and Sublime.

Feel free to poke at or suggest anything that you think might make this a little better.

Thanks!
Tait

Sounds good overall. Nice mellow mix. How many mics did you use on the drums? The overhead mic is kind of loud. The hats are a little too out front. Other than that, it's pretty good.

I like the tune. Listenting on headphones the guitars seem a bit too low and not well defined. Try turning them up or backing off the drums a bit. I would suggest working on the guitars and tweak the drums just a bit since they do sound pretty good.

GREG_L: Thanks. I used 4 mics in the Glyn Johns Method and it's probably the best drum sound I've ever gotten (which isn't saying a lot, but It's certainly the best I've gotten). The drummer has his ride snare (literally) where a tom would be over the bass drum, so I think I might be getting that a little heavy. I think I can actually put the drums back a bit in the mix and possibly bring up the bass.

SIMMAN: Thanks for listening, It seems to be pretty unanimous that the guitars are too soft, so I'm going to pull those up a bit. I'm kind of a fan of heavier bass and drums on something like this to give it a little more bounce, but everyone says they're too low in the mix.

Thanks guys!

Great job, you could adjust the levels (a little) as was suggested, overall I think its excellent. All the tracks have nice definition and clarity. What interface and preamps did you use? Great song and vocal as well.

Good song, nice arrangement. I like the vocals a lot. I think there is some pitch issues with one of the BG vox, but not obvious.

Guitars definitely need to come up as does the bass. I'm hearing mostly vocals and drums and that's about it.

Your description of JJ/Sublime certainly fits the song. LOL, I like it.

Hey guys. Sorry for the long delay, but had a tons of crap going on since I originally posted.

PDP: Thanks for giving this tune a listen. I'm using a Presonus Firebox into an iMac using Cubase 4LE. I've used a few mics, but mostly the SP B1 and MXL V67G.

CHILI: I'll have to check with the BG vocal...we can't have that happening.

I'm working on a remix...thanks guys!

Sounds good man- good comparison too

I just saw Jack Johnson Friday - great show.

Great tune

- Just a personal opinion i think the last verse/chorus bit of the song might benefit from one more added guitar to really kick in a bit of a climax a little more.

- thats really just a taste thing, the song stands up on its own as it is

I like this mix. It is open and lively - no shortage of personality. The snare sounds really cool as do the vocals. I think the cymbals are a tad harsh and maybe too out front?

Overall, it is a little brighter/lighter than I would like, but you put together a nice package of sound here regardless...well done. :)

I don't really like the song, but it sounds real good dude.

I really enjoyed the song and the arrangement. The only beef is that around 1:45 there is a stretch of time where just the music is playing - it seems like there should be a solo or something in there.
