Izotype Ozone and Sonar

I downloaded the trial of this Ozone mastering program and get it up and running with audio playing but only on bypass, when it starts up. Any time that I unclick the bypass switch, the audio stops playing and it says DROPOUT on the bottom bar in Red (CPU % usage deosnt pass over 7% ever though). What does this mean and how can I fix it?? This program is amazing and I neeeeeed to try it out ...............I have a PIII 450/almost 400 Megs RAM/SB Live if this has anyting to do with it. Thanks very much. BJ
 
Sorry, but I really think you need a stronger computer to run realtime effects... :(
 
Ozone is a very processor intensive plug-in. Are you trying to use it on a project that already has several other plugin effects on the invidual tracks?

My suggestion is to export a wave file of your mix without Ozone. Then re-import that wave into a new Sonar project. The only track in the new project should be the mixed stereo wave. Now place Ozone as a plug in on the VMain.

If you still continue to get dropouts, then I'm afraid moskus gave you the answer.
 
Ok, thanks guys.......So when you master a final product with a program like Ozone, you want a single mixed down wav file ...right.......when the tracks are individual you are dealing with mixing levels and techniques???

Well, yeah! That's the whole idea behind multitracking... ;)
 
If you want a quick and simple rule of thumb, mixing is done with the individual recorded tracks and mastering is done to the mixed stereo wave.

It's not as competely cut and dry as that, but you won't be far off keeping that in mind.

There "may" be occasions when you want to use Ozone (or more appropriately, one of it's components) on an individual track, but it is really designed primarily for mastering of the mixed stereo wave.

BTW, have you downloaded and read their mastering guide. It's got some pretty good stuff in there that may help put this in perspective for you.
 
Yeah I just actually found it today, and downloaded the guide but wanted to make sure I could get it working before I learned how to use it......................time to read :) Thanks
