Hi all,

Currently venturing into audio recording after years doing MIDI stuff.

I have a gtr/vox (male - think CHris Rea) coming round to record on Thursday.

I have an Ivory 5051 and a Focusrite 56 liquid channel thingy
Mikes are:

Baby Bottle
Superlux R102
AT 4033
Two SM 57's
A couple of cheep (get the pun) :D 'eagle' condesors (which are't too bad).

We want to go a little OTT with this and record the guitar in stereo and use some ambience - perhaps front and rear.

COuld do with some advice/suggestions.

I was thinking about piping the vocals through the 5051 using the Ribbon (Superlux).

I have not yet used the focusrite liquid 56 but it has these liquid channel emulations

Maybe they are better than the 5051? Good though it is..

Any thoughts insights wil be considered

You have way too much money invested in this not to know that the best, quickest way to get a good sound out of your particular equipment in your particular space with this particular artist is to experiment with mic choice and placement and use your ears.

Sorry I can't give you a better answer.
But, really, why don't you try out the preamps on your $1000 interface instead of asking for the opinions of a bunch of people who's experience you have no way of knowing and who probably haven't worked with your very specific set of gear?

Sorry if that seems dickish but, y'know, that's my guess as to why you didn't get a response.

Ivory or Liquid? Why choose one when you can use both: Ivory Liquid!
