Just bought my bandmate's Ampeg SVT-II head, as he's moving away and will probably be playing mainly jazz in the future, so he's going to get something with a different sound. He let it go for $575 with a road case. It's got 300 all-tube watts, and it sounds fat as all hell. Now I need to track down one of those big 8x10 cabinets.

Have you lifted that son of a bitch up yet... it aint no lightweight:eek: you might consider an extra road hand too in your searches!!

It's little brother, the V4b isn't any slouch either. 100 watts of pure bred muscle.

oh...and you'll want the 2x15 cabinet to augment your 8x10 cabinet too. So...I'd double check that "want" list!!

Are you saying the 8x10 doesn't have enough bass for you on its own? Boy, those things can rumble. I can't imagine what it would sound like with two 15s going at the same time.

actually the 8x10 will probably be juuuuust fine. But having a 2x15 will allow you to already have the 2nd cabinet already in place for when you get your 2nd head:eek:

And you thought bass guitars amps couldn't move dirt!!!

Ha...2nd head. That's a laugh. I probably shouldn't have even spent the money on this one. Glad I did, though. Even through the borrowed 4x12 I have right now it sounds fantastic.

except for the "huge" factor of the SVT, it is probably one of the best sounding bass rigs, in my feeble opinion.

What ya gotta do is wear baggy pants and stand in front of the thing one time, and watch 'em flap in the wind!!
