Hey, I just have a few questions...

Whats wrong with recording in a room/closet that has carpet?

If I record in a bathroom, but not the actually bathroom with tile, but like the powder room (it has carpet in it) will I have to cover the whole room with auralex?

Thanks in advance for the help. Take care. :)

Firstly, What are you recording, guitars, vocals, a little more info on what your plan is will be able to give you some definitive answers.

Basically carpet does not have the properties to absorb and trap reflections sufficient enough compared to acoustic treatments such as aurelex and rigid fiberglass or rockwool etc.

You will have frequencies that bounce off walls and ceiling (reflections) bass frequencies will congregate in your corners. You basically want to reduce reverb and echoes (flutters).

Vocal booths you aim for isolation, acoustic guitars benefit from wooden floors.
Have a read through this forum, there is some excellent links to all aspects of this subject in great detain.
