I'm sorry, I just can't help it...
I keep envisioning some fat old bloke drinking himself to death in an East London pub, going on & on about how he was once in The Beatles, as the waitress pats him on the back and humors him while whispering over her shoulder to the bartender "Time to cut this one off"...
And he leaves the pub, staggering off into the night, the London rain hitting him in the face all the while mumbling
"Ringo...must...die...."
And wakes up in the morning, hung-over, and lets out a troublesome moan, knowing he has to go through another day as Pete Best...

I don't know it has its good side - at least noone took at shot at him
cheers :D

almost as bad as being Bill Buckner,Sorry Bill,I'm a met fan

Actually, last I heard he lives in Kanata, Canada. Still plays the odd crummy show with his band from time to time.

He was a couple years ago, the Elvis Tribute band I use to play in were playing the same concert, some sort of mish mash of different bands. (alas I was no longer part of the Elvis band at that time, missed my brush with greatness :) heheh) I went to see them but only caught the last 5 minutes of Pete Best and of course completly missed the Elvis band as they went on before.

Was he good or not,Tell the truth. Did his mother love him.

I just realized that...

...something even worse than being Pete Best must be to be the guy that wrote "A whiter shade of pale". You have written one of the most successful and popular songs in history, and it was A FLUKE!!! You have never ever, before or after, gotten a hit, nobody knows your name, and everybody just remembers your band as the ultimate one-hit-wonder.

It must SO suck to know that you simply can't write songs. The rest of us can always blame bad luck, or that we never got a record deal, or whatever. But this guy, he did it. Once. Obviously by mistake, because if he COULD write good songs, the other good songs he did would have been hits too.

Major bummer, dude.

In case you haven't noticed, most hit songs are written by people who write several of them. :)

Procal Harem also did Conquistidor , It was almost as big a hit and is still on the radio. Not sure if I spelled that stuff right but you know the song.

No, I don't know the song. Which kinda proves my point. :)
I've heard other Procul Harum songs. They sucked BIG!

Sure did. Robin's drummer probably grew up coppin Ringo's
riffs - have another shot, Pete.
