they must be crazy, all i do is wave a chicken over my head while doing 3 backflips on fire.

Yes it is a joke. The way digital works is it either reads the 100011010011010 or it doesn't. And if it doesn't, then you wouldn't have any sound to start with.
 
At least he had the good sense to mention the holy Green Majic Marker.
 
Hehe, that's funny. I used to work for a company that did audio preservation from obsolete formats, so I appreciated that one. Thanks for the chuckle.
