Is this system OK?

From all the advice I've had and the fact that RME, Samplitude and Cubase all encourage P4 and RME even states that it can not recommend AMD this is some of what I'm planning to order:

IBM:60GB,ATA100, 7200 RPM,DESKSTAR 120GXP,OEM 101.95 IBM:120GB EIDE UDMA 100HARD DRIVE,7200 RPM, 172.95

MICRON:512MB PC133,SODIMM,512MB PC133 SO-DIMM,OEM 102.95

ASUS:P4PE/L,I845PE,533FSB,AGP4X,5PCI,3 DDR333,UDMA100,5PCI,AUDIO,LAN,USB2.0.ATX,RETAIL 132.95

ENERMAX:EG365PVE,350WATT PENTIUM4 READY ATX POWERSUPPLY,DUAL BALL BEARING FAN,FAN SPEED MONITOR 48.95

LIAN LI:PC-60 USB,ALUMINUM ATX CASE W/4-USB PORTS4-5.25,3-3.5 INCH,3-3.5 INTERNAL,NO POWER SUPPLY 107.95

INTEL:PENTIUM IV 2.4G,512K,S478,533FSB,RETAIL BOX 219.95

Does this sound OK?

What is SODIMM mean for memory? How is the LAN version of P4PE different than the more expensive versions?

Thanks for all the help

Chuck

Thanks, I made a mistake. Since, I've heard that DDR at 333mHz is more stable than 400mHz. I'm an Athlon user who is learning Intel stuff.

I'd switch the IBM's to Seagate Barracuda IV's.

The lians are nice cases.

Enermax are good P/S.

SODIMM's are for notebooks.

I've haven't seen that ASUS board yet, fairly new. Even has serial ATA (optional of course) support. The chipset on it, as well as the namebrand is a safe bet though.

The more expensive models appear to have RAID or Firewire options. Not necessary for a DAW. Firewire perhaps, but that can be added at anytime, as can RAID.

Emeric,
It's nice to hear from you. You were the one who direced me to this BB and you helped me install Win98 lite using your personal instructons. I doubt if you could come close to the prices above, or I would buy my computer from your business in Canada. The Axiontech site above is nice in that it gives a wide choice of manufacturers and models. I will get Seagate hdsas you suggest. I hear they're quiet.
Thanks again for your help,
Chuck

Hi oneArtist,

I can price it out if you like, you might be suprised.

This is borderline spam, email if you like, and I can provide a price quote.
