I am supposed to be studying but can`t! I keep jamming on the badboy guitar.

This song kind of flows too, for me anyway.

Is the vocal alright or is it too blunt, cheesy, poo, folky? You know its hard to judge because you always cringe when you hear yourself. I tried to put a brief harmony on but there may be "Translatng problems" because my headphones are TOO good. I would love to put strings on or something? show me the way, I`m still learning....

I don't think I'd consider this song "bla." It's very well written and recorded. I'm not sure it's something that I would personally listen to, but I can certainly recognize a good song when I hear one.

I'm really very impressed. Very nicely done! I don't think that you should try to do anything else with it in terms of "spicing it up", or you could lose the nice realistic quality you've got going.

Yet another winner.I could hear strings in this song but I dont think you would wanna overdue it with strings.Maybe accenting with strings after the first verse at 32 seconds in,1:06 and 2:07 into the song.

You have a unique voice for sure. You have a quality that almost sounds like 'crying' that most singers wish they had. It's an inate thing that some have and some dont. You have it.

Dont stop writing and singing whatever you do.You seem to be flowing with ideas at the moment.Capitalize on it while ideas are flowing because the dry spells will surely come.

Hey Erland, another really nice tune. You make me wanna throw all my recording junk in the garbage!

Erland:

I have heard all your previous posted tunes here, so I will be a little biased in saying I like this tune alot.

You are my favorite vocalist of the 100's of downloads I have made here at HomeRec (No offense to the rest..Losta great vocals around here)

Your vocal style & delivery really pulls me into your tunes.
I personally would sign you to a contract.

Anyway...
Nice simple arrangement, the mix well-balanced.
I heard the hesitation on the harmonies, which came in a bit late.
But you already knew that...
So..

At least keep posting more tunes for my benefit, ok?
Looking forward to a full CD from you soon!

You got a very in-your-face vocal intimacy with a minimum of sibilance, but it had some. in an amount that wouldn't ruin a demo, but maybe a master.

Beautiful tune. Great vocals.

Have you checked out Recording Engineer's stuff? The same approach to vocals and guitar with some tasty mics.

Blaa? No, it was tender and verging on poignant. The tracking was VERY clean!! Please give the means to meet such and end.

Theron.

Erland...your stuff is gorgeous...great stuff.
I have a remix of your tune, in which I added some instruments you thought you said you might like to add. ...just some ruffie ideas, but I enjoy listening to your music, I wanted to play along.

If you prefer, I can remove the song from anyones access, and erase it from my files, as it is your song and you are the sole copyright owner.

Anywazzz...thanks for giving us your music....(the books can wait in your case:p )

(fromaboytoagirl)...a remix for erland

ps..the instruments don't come right in at the begining...let it play a bit....

Wow!

Those strings are exactly what I could hear at 1:06 and 2:07!I dont know if erland will like it but I think you did a great job at adding a little more life to this tune.

This tune is really too good to be floating around out here in cyberspace.A few more lyrics and maybe a bridge or solo section and this song would be ready for radio.

Nice beat addition too.You have a great ear Mixmkr!

Wow, what a responce

Thanks so much for checking this one out! I will post again later but I really have to study. This site is addictive!

Mixmkr! you remixxed it! yehaa thats so cool. Listening I can here everything you`ve done. Shocking stuff. Thank you!! I wont say much now but I will say, wow! Later

Slackmaster2K- Glad you listened even if its not your taste. Thanks. Oh too late though!

rbw87- thats such a compliment. I have to stop, I have to work solid for three weeks. Oh I just did another song this morning, that has to be the last though. You ever get that feeling that you just have to finish it, now!

macle - I love your stuff but never commented becasue I was a bit nervous of the big boys here. But brilliant! Later

Village Idiot - Wow, You really are nice to me. Hey I have another one and I`ll post you it first. Hows that? It more a happy tune. It aint recorded yet though.

drstawl - For me its way to in my face. It is hard to listen to your own voice don`t you think? I am still learning how to record better and better , I think?. bye

theron - I am so glad you liked it mate. I think my girlfriend might cry on that one. A good birthday present? Thankyou. later.

Man I have to get off line now. But thanks

i gotta question. how'd you record that guitar? it sounds incredible.

edit to previous post:

Erland -

You have really outdone yourself this time, mate! Man, I envy people who can write like this... Sounds really impressive, and mixmkr's remix makes it even better.
If you can afford it, I would strongly recommend you get a better vocal mic. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with the Shure 606, and I've done some really nice things with another entry-level Shure mic, but a decent condenser, like a Marshall 1006 or V67 would do your voice justice. I have no idea how much they're charging for MXL mics in the UK (They cost an enormous amount of money in Israel. I got mine on a trip to the US), but it's worth checking. I think Yamaha distributes them in the UK.
Awsome job on the guitar! Sounds unbelievable.

Keep up the good work!

Quick reply

erichenryus - I`m so glad you like it, youve made me smile. Keep listening and if you start whistling or humming it later then I`ll be exstatic! You like the guitar. You know my nice guitar is broken so I used a poo one, i don`t even know who owns it. It only has 5 strings too. I slapped a capo on the 5 or 6th fret. Then i recorded it with the mic and put the compressor! effect on. Changed the eq a bit. I have no monitors so this is my biggest problem. I panned a little left then added another guitar during the chorusy part. Simple. I tryed to record it several times but was frustrated by the monitor problem. I had a drink, came back and nailed it one take. Speak to you later.

Hey Aren, hi! You like it. Great. I am still wondering, do mics really differ that much. I can`t afford it but perhaps I should. If I could afford to be picky, I feel somehow that my shure is a bit tinny. I know nothing about equipment really.

How do they differ? Thats an open question.

bye

Cooper

Hey thanks again Mixmkr. Georgeous? love that word. Curious, you even added drums but how? the song must have slipped in and out of time. Did you just beat it in yourself

Alright!

I`m a junior member now, cool. What I do? mmm I feel older, wiser, more sophisticated.

its about the delivery and the music not the quality of the recording. Good job with what you have, but i hear distortion/compression. You either overcompressed but you haven't said anything about that, so probably you clipped the input on your mic pre. Its such a good delivery of the song though that it doesn't matter. There aren't many songs i play to other people off this BBS, but this will be one.

actually, your timing was pretty "right on", that it was easy to play to....but then, there's nothing really fancy to distract, either....my main intentions..;)

Beautiful.

I like the ending; it gives more humanity to it.

Wow....good song!....I liked the original AND mixmkr's version....some VERY nice work!

Hey,

I didnt listen for the longest cos I was expecting it to be blah, but it turned out not to be at all.

some very high melody in there.

What mic are you using? I'm guessing it was modded by stephen paul. Actually, share your whole chain. Is this tape?

I like both the totally dry one and mixmkrs remix. Mixmkr's string melody was awesome.

I like the confidence of the writing and the singing. An amateur writer would not be able to write something so simple.

my only question is: why is the vocal off centre? It is very unsettling.

Good song. ~1:10 there's some vocal weirdness, good song, well played, great vocal styling.

If you change anything, get back from the mic a bit or lower your levels a little. Just enough to kill that sibilance (I still don't know what that means).

LOL, and get rid of the coughing and re-record that end fuckaround, lol...

One more thing, for a little while I didn't know if this was an innocent love song or a joke- transvestitey song.

I'm glad you posted it, really liked hearing it!
