Is this setup going to be good enough?

I've looked at the Soundcraft M8 mixer and the Delta 1010, but now I've realized something. That solution is going to be waaaay to expensive. I don't have monitors or good microphones either and when I ad it all up it is going to cost alot more than I can afford as a poor college student.

Would this setup be ok instead?

Delta Omni Studio
1x audiobuddy (I want at least four chanels of preamps (two mics, guitar and bass))
1x SM57
1x ADK a51 (LD condenser)
Monitors (Tannoy Revals or Yorkvilles)

I already have this:

Roland RS-5 keyboard
Trumpet
French horn
Acoustic guitar
Soundblaster Audigy Platinum (I will get 75$ for it when I buy my new soundcard)
Sonar 2.0
Reason 2.0

I want to be able to get a high quality sound and low latency in sonar. I think the I/O:s will enough for me. It is possible to record drums with 4I/O:s isn't it?

Do you think this setup will be good enough to make a descent recording or do you think I'll be sorry in a couple of months that I didn't get a better soundcard? Is the Delta 44 noisy?

It sounds ok to me. yes you can record drums with 4 inputs. that all i use (but i'm going to start using a room mic) but my drum sound is ok. (listen to it www.nowhereradio.com/zeke/singles/ )
Your mic choice seems to be ok, how ever, if you want a real good drum sound, i would invest about $190 in a mic for the kick drum (like a shure beta 52) I have never heard of the ADK a51 how much is it? if it's over $200, then you should go with the studio projects c1 for $200. you can ask anybody here and the'll tell you the same thing "hell yeah! the c1 kicks ass!" and your software choice is good. i used cakewalk before i went to a all-in-on daw. ($800)

if i can help you out anymore, fill free to ask!

ZEKE

The price for the C-1 is more like 350$ here in sweden, and that's a bit to much for me. The ADK is 200$ over here. I've heard some mic tests with both the ADK and the C-1 and the C-1 seemed abit brighter I think (I'm not sure I remember correctly). I remember I liked both, but don't remember which I liked best.

Zeke, I couldn't listen to your songs at nowhereradio. "Live stations are currently offline". I guess I have to check them out later then.

Instead of an audio buddy, since money is tight, maybe a Behringer mixer? For 79 bucks you can get 8 channels with 4 mic pres, phantom power, eqs and 2 aux sends.

I bought a Behringer MX802a for $79. I needed 4 preamps with phantom power to mic drums. It's a fine option if money is tight.

I've heard so many bad things about behringer, so I'm not sure about that. Are you guys saying that I should skip the omni and buy a behringer mixer instead or just skip change the audiobuddy for a behringer?

If you have 4 inputs to your recording device then the Behringer mx 802a will not have enough outputs (it only has stereo). But Behringer mixers are not the evil hellspawn that some people make them out to be. There is better, but they are good for the money…

But since your on a budget, if you can get by without a mixer using good mic pre’s and such then you might be better off.
