I never had a condenser. I was hoping to buy a Studios Projects, but I can't get theme here in Argentina.

Anyways, a guy is offering me an AKG 3000B for $450. That's pesos. The dollar is at $2 pesos today, so that's $225 USD.

Do you think it's a good deal? He is also offering me Sennheiser HD-433 headphones at $21.5 USD, and a Spirit Protracker console by Soundcraft at $190. What do you think?

BTW, what's the "B" in the microphone? Is there an AKG 3000?

Cheers, Andrés

The C-3000B is a newer model of the original C-3000 where they made some improvments. It sounds a little better than the original, a little smoother. That's not a bad price for that mic. The going rate, street price, is about $300 US. I have one and while it's not my favorite, I still find it VERY useful on a lot of sources.

I can't believe that Alan Hyatt would pass up a sale, Argentina or not. If you truly want a Studio Projects mic, ask him if there's not some way to get it to you.

Andres,

I would take the Soundcraft mixer as well. It's a good price for a great mixer. I wish I could affor a Soundcraft...

well, I was thinking about getting the mixer too. I have only the Digi001's preamps 0n the first two channels. So that will be a good way to get other preamps. But one friend of mine who has a studio told me that mixer is crap, so I am in doubt.
Do you know if you can send the separated signals to a recorder? I think you can via the effects send, cause it doesn't have a direct out. Do you know how many Auxs it has, and if it has groups?
Cheers, Andrés

Thanks a lot Gidge.

I called the argentine distributor and he told me he has the MXL V67 @ $429, and he offered me MXL 600 @ around $300. I f I pay in dollars he'll give me a discount.
Do you think it's worth to pay 2x the prize? Is it much better than the AKG 3000b?
Cheers, Andrés

The AKG C3000B, based upon comments by a local project
studio owner, tends to work better on female singers.
(I was the one who sold him the mike!)
Although it sounds "nice" either the C1 (I have one) or the
V67 (according to other members here) sound better-at least
for vocals as that's all I record with a mike.

I have all three of these mics, the C3000B, the MXL-V67, and the C1. The C1 wins the contest in my book. The V67 is good too. I don't care for the C3000B as much.

The C1 is alot better than the V67. Anyone who says different has been drinking too many Hurricanes.

that could be true:D

but I believe it was some guy named Harvey Gerst that said they sound damn near identical and that the v67 was a tad better.....my piss poor untrained ears cant tell the difference at all......

Hey the V67 isnt a bad mic for the money, but the C1 is hotter and smoother. Ive heard them side by side dude. They are not the same.

By the way In a few weeks I may be headed that dirrection for a few good parties. I guess you will be at the French Caberat trying to pick up those chicks ( I used to live along the Jefferson highway in the shadow of the Hewey P long bridge when I was about 20 yrs old). Well whatever you do dont fall in love.;)
