Is this Madonna?

The vocals are very lost, burried in the mix, can't hear them very well.

I thought they might be a little low in the mix. I havent finished automating the volume so that will be a huge factor in certain phrases being hidden.

Thanks.
This is a raw mix and hasnt been mastered either.

Any more comments are welcome... please. :)

I like this voice better than Mogadonna.
Mind you for a pop mix the vox are a little down amongst it. I actually like the level mind you.

This is not Madonna. She was more bubblegum pop. This more Debbie Gibson'ish. Of course, now Madonna is in a different genre.

The vox are really buried deep down. Should be brought up.

I fixed the vox. Gonna put a link up as soon as I get a minute.

Cheers,
Eck

I like the song. Vocal's a little sibilant. Mix sounds a little hot above 7 kHz or so.

Tim

Thanks Tim.
Gonna work on that now.

Yeah its a good song for a pop song!
I could see it doing pretty well in the charts once it is released.

Who's the band. Pretty nice and very 80s.

The mix sounds nice. Just a little open in the higher frequencies. If someone's car stereo doesn't allow to suppress those, they might not be able to blare this out loud in the common fashion of playing one's music for all others stopped at the red light. :) Just a comment. There's many mixes I have on production CDs that are like that. :)

Edit: Where's my manners? I forgot to address the main topic - the mix. The mix sounds very nice. :)

I like the sound of the mix. Vocal's still really sibilant to me in spots with some long s's standing out, but just my opinion. I'm probably too sensitive to high frequency anyway.

How would you go about fixing the sybilant parts of the vox as I dont want to just stick a Deesser or EQ cut on the whole vox track?
Cheers Tim.

Thanks BigBubba. I have been having problems with my hi end bcause I cant hear it on my system. :(
Would you advise bringing the hi end down a touch? IF so where abouts? Say, from 6K on?

Thanks.

Well Tim said 7KHz. So 7-8KHz sounds fair game. But just a touch. And only then maybe.

I'd recommend leaving it as is, unless many others point out the same thing. Then it might be something you might look into. :)

I'll listen on the home theater system to see how much I can raise the volume. :)

I wouldn't EQ the whole vocal. If you don't want to use a de-esser you could just spot EQ the sibilant points in the vocal file. I bet it'll take less time than setting up a de-esser.

Tim

This songs sounds a lot bigger and more powerful in your mix versus MySpace. That sibilence could be cut down as mentioned by Tim.

Good One.....

Are you mixing her new CD while she is in the USA?

I don't know. This mix is lacking something. I am not sure there IS a part that is already there that would make this track work, but the mix is not highlighting anything that makes me HAVE to listen to this.

The drums sound very awkward. The vocals are a bit too sizzly for my taste. Something need to come out in this mix that compels is forward. None of the parts the way it is mixed right now seem to drive the song.
