Seems pretty future proof no?
I just got this last night:
HP XW6000 Dual Xeon 2x 2.8GHz Tower PC 500GB 2GB DVD on eBay (end time 08-Apr-11 19:05:36 BST)

Realized it was a massive mistake and very outdated, would have been an improvement on what I have so far, but not very clever. I wanted to try out an AMD processor anyhow..

I have a hard drive and stuff to put in it, seem like a good deal for music, video and gaming?
(I do intend to get a decent graphics card)

The HP will do, and if you bump up the RAM, it may be surprisingly 'better' than you might think. If you can go as high as 8GB, and you have 4 USB ports, I don't see where this is a bad computer. It's a 2.8GB processor. It'll be fine, and not a massive mistake.

Its the 500mhz FSB tht will hold the HP back...
The AMD one in the first post is far supirior right?

Well, yeah. But do you need that kind of bus speed? Maybe to have a whole lot of tracks going, each with a dozen plug ins. But 500MHz should be OK for a lot. It's actually 533MHz (not a big difference, but just splitting hairs), and I've used less. Granted, I 'print to tape' and use no plug ins. But I have a hunch that's more RAM dependent and less processor speed. I could be wrong. Speed is important, but after a point, you may not notice. It may still be up to how much RAM you have.
