Is this comp decent for recording and some video editing?

Lookim for a decent comp with recording and video editing capabilites. Well mot just capable but can run it all well. Is this comp a good choice?Asus - Essentio Desktop / AMD Athlon™ II X2 Processor / 4GB Memory / 1TB Hard Drive - CM1730-03 - Best Buy

I don't know too much about cpu's anymore... and I used to make the damned things But for video, I suggest more memory. You can get by with 4gb, however, more is always better. I have a dual core intel something-something and it hums along nicely with realtime AVCHD previews in Sony Vegas. AVCHD is very cpu intensive and eats up a lot of processing power and I'm not seeing problems. So, I think the dual core AMD chip would work fine. And any computer that can run AVCHD codecs smoothly won't have any problems doing anything in the audio realm.

More memory can always be added. Thanks so much for the feedback. I know like nothing about comps. I have an old dell xps 400 desktop that is just slowing down day by day and i recently got my hand in video editing and its killing my comp

Also I had a question about processor speed. The one i have now is 3 ghz but this one is 2.8. Does that mean my current processor is better? Take im mind the comp is probably 8 years old.

A quick google search shows that your old computer had a pentium chip. The new processor will be much faster because it is dual core, two processors in the same package. The only caveat with that is software has to be written to take advantage of multiple processors. But that's basically a given nowadays. If you plan to use old software, you might have issues, though I doubt it.
