Is this audition quality singing?

Hello everyone! I've been thinking of auditioning for some shows like America's Got Talent and X-Factor and I'd like your opinion on whether or not you think I'm up to snuff.

Below is a link for a recording I did recently using a Rode NT1-A and Bheringer X1204 mixer patched into my on-board sound (VIA chipset). Vocals were done in one single take - no punch ins, no editing, no pitch correction. The music is a generic backing track. Let me know your thoughts. Here's the link:

I'd say yes: Go for it.

Vocals sound good all round.
Quality is more than adequate for a demo/audition.

Did you do the harmonies too?

Yeah I like it. For shows as such I'd be worried on how to make it stand out more, without the effects on the vocals, they might think it's dull? just my view...
But the way it's been recorded, it sounds well!

Wow

Wow.. I listened to both of those demos, and damn, that was some nice singing. I think if you went into a studio, you'd have no problem. Those are some decent vocals and they make what I've seen so far on American Idol look rediculous. Seriously.. keep pushing it, theres something there. As far as in person auditions, since you're talking reality TV, the more interesting the story behind the voice, the more likely you may standout. Usually if someone makes in on those shows theyre either, (1) a freak/weirdo, (2) amazing singer or (3) incredible story that generates media buzz.

Good luck!

Thanks guys <3<3<3 I appreciate the feedback. I mostly sing for family and friends, so it's nice to get some positive feedback from folks who aren't afraid to hurt my feelings (I hope). Gonna fly out to L.A. in March and audition for The Voice. Really nervous.

Really, really think about your audition piece. You have a nice voice but neither of those songs is really showcasing it. You go flat quite a bit in "I Surrender" and "The Way I Am" is a nice song, and you sing it nicely, but for a vocal audition I don't really think it'll be up to snuff.

Where are you hearing flat notes in "I Surrender?" If you could give some specific examples, that would be helpful.
