Is there anyway to add an external tape moniter to an amp that doesn't have one?

Hi all

I'm new to this site. I am very old school and I have a audio system that is a mix of vintage and newer equipment. I want to start recording audio tapes again. I have a TEAC 3300 and a Marantz cassette deck. I purchased a Marantz 2440 quad adapter to give me control of my rear speakers but it requires an amp with a tape monitor circuit. I have a newer amp I would like to use, but it doesn't have one. All it has is 1 tape output. I found an old radio shack 3 deck control box that has 3 inputs and 1 out. The front panel has a switch marked monitor. Can I use it between the 2440 and my amp and will it work the same way a tape monitor in the amp would? If not is there any thing I can use? Also, the amp has an Ipod in jack if I play my Mp3 files through the amp can I record the music on my tape deck.
