Hello everyone! I'm new here...to this site.

Have a easy question 'cause I'm online looking for short (18" long) 1/4" TS or TSR cables to connect various sound processing devices...EQ's, aural exciters, compressors, limiters, visualizers, etc and/or to then insert in my mixer. Actually, that's my question...do I use TS or TSR cables to connect different sound processing gear together. Are these technically called patch cables or insert cables? I think I use an "insert cable" with one 1/4" plug on one end and two on the other to insert these processors into any one channel on my mixer...correct? But are these TS or TSR'S? Are they all balanced or unbalanced cables? Is TS unbalanced and TSR balanced. Can either be used for sound processing gear? And, I thought "patch cables" were used with patch bays (another whole subject for later). Thanks in advance for your help. Duker

TS - unbalanced. TRS - balanced or 'stereo' (meaning two separate channels).
You need to know what you've got and what is needed! An 'insert cable would be used from the 'insert' jack (TRS) and have a common, send and return (essentially 'stereo' and then two TS plugs on the other end, one going TO the device being inserted in the signal chain and one FROM the device back to your mixer.
Try this page over at Sweetwater: Cable Finder | Sweetwater.com - shortest 1/4" TRS to 2-1/4" TS they have is 24".

Thank you so much. Will check out your recommendations. Can I bug you again with other cable / gear questions? Duker
