is there an easy way to sync audio tracks?

These are probably easy questions for any of you with any experience with computer recording. I am just beginning and am using both CW pro aud 9 and n-tracks trials. I am trying to record audio tracks in either using my old Ensoniq EPS. My audio card is a Soundblaster card which came with my computer. It has one 1/8" line in input. I am trying to record the eight sequenced tracks from my keyboard into the tracks on my software. First of all, ccan you guys tell me how to set up the count off beats before it starts recording(lets say 4 beats) in either program? Is that the only way to record audio, by trying to time the push of the start button on my keyboard with the end of the count off beats? Is there a way to use midi cables to sync the keyboard start with the computer record start? Am I confined to soloing each individual track and recording it all the way through one track at a time? I just wanna know how to easily get these tracks inperfect sync. If its not asking to much(as if I haven't already done that), how do I edit(chop) the beginnings and endings of wave passages I record in either program? Do I have to have an external wave editor(n-tracks always talks as if it needs an external wave editor like CEP). Help me out you geniuses!

You sure do have a lot of questions. :) Did you try to read the help manual?

1) Get a RCA L/R male to 1/8" stereo male cable.

2) You're going to need to get a midi device to sync your keyboard tracks and computer.

3) I don't have Cake 9 in front of me right now. I think you go to OPTIONS>AUDIO, to set your count in measures. Also check the box for simutaneous record and playback. Also...uncheck the box for the metronome during recording.

4) Count off beats = 1

5) You will need to make Cake 9 the Master Device and your keyboard the Slave Device.

6) Yes you will need to SOLO your individual tracks, but if they are in MONO you could do two at a time by panning one HARD LEFT and the other HARD RIGHT.

7) If you don't understand some of the terms used, then you can check this site for a glossary of terms.

http://www.cp.duluth.mn.us/~dkrantz/glossary.html

8) You will need to learn how to edit by the way of "practice, practice, practice".

9) It would be easier for you to do your truncating in an editing program like Sound Forge (http:www.sonicfoundry.com), but you could do some editing in Cake 9.

10) I answered the questions in no specific order.

You really should use the help files in those programs, AND by doing some more research. Check out this site for more information.
